Zander Marshall, a 3-year-old boy, was diagnosed with Mitochondrial SURF1 Leigh Syndrome. The disease can cause children to lose the ability to walk, eat, and even breathe on their own. Zander’s family is hopeful for a cure, but they say it will cost millions.
About Cure Mito Foundation
The Cure Mito Foundation was established in 2018 as a Cure SURF1 Foundation by a group of families determined to fight for their children’s lives. The Foundation’s primary focus is advancing research towards a cure for Leigh syndrome and eventually for mitochondrial disease as a whole.
Cure MITO Football Game*
Penns Manor School District Community has come together to support Zander and Cure Mito at their Football Game on September 5th. Please wear your Zander gear to the game!

Foundation and Zander
Zander’s family was able to get in touch with the Cure Mito Foundation which is working to fund research and gene therapy for the disease.
Cure Mito Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and 100% of donations are tax deductible and will go directly to support research ⁴.
